We’ve had a great second week back after the Christmas Holidays!

It has been a jam-packed fortnight, with lots of interviews for the position we advertised at the end of 2019 and a new work experience student joining us. The dogs have loved meeting all the new people and have been an invaluable part of our interview process.

First, we’d like to welcome Abi to the team. Abi is currently studying animal care and she’ll be joining us on Mondays and Fridays for her work experience! She’s already a big hit with the dogs and is enjoying getting stuck in with training.

Here’s Milo and Bella showing her their skills!

We decided to mix up the training this week and have worked on a whole range of activities. Firstly, the trotting poles, with Ruby and Frankie definitely being the pick of the pack for this one. The idea here is to move away from simple food luring and start getting the dogs to really think about what they are doing without just following food.

We also practiced some off-lead heel work – which Zoe was a total star at. Really getting into the spirit with that foot work!

There has been lots of fun and games too – the Labradors showed us their biscuit catching skills on Thursday but it seems like Whippets weren’t quite built the same way…

We hope you’ve all had as great a start to 2020 as we have!
